ABOUT THE ARTIST

Alex is a 25 year old artist from Jackson, New Jersey. As her first job at the age of 15, she was employed at Six Flags Great Adventure as a Caricature Artist/ Body Artist. From there she decided to pursue her passion of theme parks. She decided to attend Savannah College of Art and Design majoring in Production Design (with a concentration in Theme Parks and Attractions/ Themed Entertainment), and a minor in Painting. In Winter 2020, she was hired as the Scenic Charge Artist in SCAD's Scene Shop on their Savannah Campus. There she helped construct sets, turn paint elevations into real-life textures, and oversee all of the scenic painting for SCAD's theatrical and film productions.

Following graduation she moved to Orlando, FL where she was hired as a Scenic Forman for themed entertainment construction company. During her time there she was able to work closely with various Orlando theme parks including Walt Disney World, Walt Disney World Resorts, Universal Studios Orlando, and Sea World Parks. In this position she oversaw scenic painting while leading jobs and a crew. Some of the jobs Alex had the opportunity to lead were, stonework on entire building facades for Hogsmead in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios, Hibiscus Hideaway bar mural at Sea World’s Discovery Cove, and the Ripsaw Falls ride entry way at Universal Studios.

As of January of 2024 she is a freelance artist based out of Manhattan, New York. Alex splits her time creating artwork, participating in art shows and exhibitions around the city, and painting sets for theatre and film productions. Being based out of Manhattan, New York has had a major influence on her artwork. New York City icons and themes have been a major source of inspiration as she navigates the unpredictable life of an emerging artist in the big city. Alex hopes to indulge in New York’s art scene even further and is very excited for where this journey will take her.

“Recently I was diagnosed with a severe allergy to acrylic products. I found

myself in the position of being an artist that is allergic to her materials, limiting job opportunities and how freely I can dive into my work. Due to this I have placed an emphasis on a transition Into using more oil colors. I enjoy joining acrylic backgrounds with water-soluble oil color subjects in the foreground. The past few months have been about relearning how to use my craft. My newest pieces exhibit those feelings of frustration and small victories. I am using new techniques and tools as I keep pursuing my passions; with paint being the primary medium I continue to choose to carry out my commentary.” -Alex
